Banchory

The very sheltered housing scheme at Dalvenie Gardens, Banchory was built in 2000 and consists of 24 one bedroom flats in a three storey block. The scheme is linked to a large Resource Centre built and operated by Aberdeenshire Council. This includes a restaurant where daily meals are available for Dalvenie Gardens’ tenants and others. There are also a number of activity groups and events that take place in the Resource Centre including Day Care, Discussion Groups, Stroke Club, Forget Me Not Club and Movin Aboot Class.

In the part of the scheme, which incorporates the flats, there is also a residents’ lounge and kitchen, laundry and two guest bedrooms where tenants’ relatives or friends can stay.

All properties have central heating throughout supplied from a central gas boiler and there is lift access to all floors. There is a Scheme Manager call system and fire alarm system throughout the scheme and a door entry system at the main entrance provides security.

One of a team of Housing Support Workers is on duty at Dalvenie Gardens 24 hours each day, including 'sleepover' in the staff accommodation provided. The role of these staff is to provide appropriate support to tenants and to work along with other individuals and agencies to respond to tenant needs.

Banchory is a town located in 'Royal Deeside' approximately 18 miles from Aberdeen city. There are a wide range of services and facilities available including a Health Centre, shops and other businesses and various social and leisure options. Regular public transport links Banchory to Aberdeen city and other settlements in Aberdeenshire.

In addition to the sheltered scheme there are general needs and shared ownership properties at Shaws Court.
