The sheltered housing scheme at Queen Elizabeth Court, Fettercairn was built in 1986 and consists of 22 flats in a two storey block building and 3 cottages suitable for disabled persons. In the main building there is a large residents’ lounge and attached kitchen, a laundry with washing machines and tumble dryers,
2 guest bedrooms and a hobbies room.
All properties have central heating supplied from a communal oil fired boiler. There is also lift access to both floors in the main block and a door entry system at the main entrance. In addition, there is a
Scheme Manager call system and fire alarm system throughout the scheme. A communal satellite TV reception system
has been installed.
We provide a Housing Support service 7 days each week at this
scheme. We employ a Manager and a Relief Manager
to do so, and they are normally on duty each day from 9.00
am - 5.00 pm, with a one hour flexible break for lunch
between 12.00 - 2.00 pm. When staff are not on
duty, support for tenants is provided by RCC/Community
Alarm, whose staff can initiate appropriate action to
assist.
In the village of Fettercairn there is a Post Office and general store and a branch library. The picturesque central square contains a 17th Century Mercat Cross and the main street is dominated by a magnificent stone built arch erected to commemorate a visit to the village by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1861.
There are limited public transport links from Fettercairn to other local towns, including Laurencekirk where there is a medical practice, and Montrose where there is a range of facilities and services.
