Farquharson Court, FinzeanFinzean

The sheltered housing scheme at Farquharson Court, Finzean was built in 1983 and consists of 9 cottages grouped around attractive landscaped courtyard areas. Communal facilities are provided in the form of a residents’ lounge and kitchen, laundry and guest bedroom where tenants' friends and relatives can stay.  There is a Scheme Manager call system and fire alarm system throughout the scheme.

In 2009, the Association installed a ground source heating system. The internal system is a wet system which is piped through the loft spaces and dropped down to the Low Surface Temperature (LST) radiators, each of which has a thermostatic valve fitted, together with a remote room thermostat fitted in the living rooms of each cottage.

We provide a Housing Support service 5 days each week at this scheme.   The Scheme Manager is normally on duty from 9 am - 1 pm, Monday - Friday.   When the Scheme Manager is not on duty, support for tenants is provided by RCC/Community Alarm, whose staff can initiate appropriate action to assist.

The village of Finzean is located between Banchory and Aboyne, close to the Water of Feugh. There is a general store and Post Office close to Farquharson Court, and Medical Practices and Dental Practices are available in both Banchory and Aboyne.

On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, mini bus transport is available to Banchory, and on Fridays there is a community bus to Aboyne. There is now a 'village hopper' bus service on Thursdays to Aboyne and Banchory. Both Banchory and Aboyne have a range of shops and businesses, along with cultural and social activities. In Finzean itself there is a Friendship Club, which particularly caters for older people, and various social activities take place in the residents' lounge at Farquharson Court. The local church is the Church of Scotland Birse and Feughside Parish Church.

A local bus service, the Deeside Village Hopper operates 5 days a week - more details can be found on the local authority's website. There is a link to the site here.

Timetables for the week can be found here.
