The sheltered housing scheme at Foudland Court, Insch was built in 1984 and consists of 29 flats and 6 cottages located on either side of Church Avenue. In the main block building there is a lift access to both floors and there are also communal facilities including a residents lounge and kitchen. There is a laundry equipped with washing machines and tumble dryers and a guest bedroom where tenants' relatives or friends can stay for a small charge. All properties have electric 'Total Control' heating throughout and a door entry system at the main entrance door restricts access to the building to authorised persons only. There is a
Scheme Manager call system and fire alarm system throughout the scheme and also a communal satellite TV reception system has been installed.
The Resident Scheme Manager who lives at the scheme works in conjunction with the Relief
Scheme Manager. They are on duty at certain times during the day and 'on call' during the night. When
Scheme Manager staff are not on duty, support for tenants is provided through the Community Alarm scheme that can initiate appropriate action to assist.
In Insch there is a Post Office and a range of shops including chemist and hairdressers. There is also a Health Centre and a small hospital with chiropodist, physiotherapist and hospital day care services available. The Bennachie Leisure Centre is located close to Foudland Court and for older people there is a Senior Citizens Club, Lunch Club and Caring Club.
There are good transport links from Insch since it is located on the main Aberdeen-Inverness railway line and bus service links to other local towns and Aberdeen.
