Mackay Court, Rhynie

The sheltered housing scheme at Mackay Court, Main Street, Rhynie was built in 1986 and consists of 13 flats and one cottage. In the main block building where the flats are located, there is also a residents' lounge and kitchen on the ground floor. There is also a laundry with washing machines and tumble dryers and a guest bedroom where tenants' relatives or friends can stay overnight for a small charge.

All properties have central heating supplied from a communal oil fired boiler. There is also lift access to both floors in the main block and a door entry system at the main entrance. There is a Scheme Manager call system and fire alarm system throughout the scheme.

We provide a Housing Support service 7 days each week at this scheme.   We employ a Manager and a Relief Manager to do so, and they are normally on duty each day from 9.00 am - 5.00 pm, with a one hour flexible break for lunch between 12.00 - 2.00 pm.   When staff are not on duty, support for tenants is provided by RCC/Community Alarm, whose staff can initiate appropriate action to assist.

In Rhynie there is a Post Office in the village shop, which also provides groceries, bakery products and newspapers. There is also a local Medical Practice and banking facilities are available 2 mornings each week.  A library van also calls at Mackay Court each week. The village petrol station also has a general store.

Regular public transport is available to Alford and Huntly and there is also a weekly bus service to Aberdeen on Wednesdays, leaving Rhynie in the morning and returning from Aberdeen late afternoon.
