The sheltered housing scheme at Cromar Court, Tarland was built in 1986 and consists of 6 flats and 6 cottages grouped around an attractive landscaped courtyard area. There is a residents’ lounge and attached kitchen, laundry equipped with tumble dryers and washing machines and guest bedroom where friends or relatives of tenants can stay overnight.
All properties have central heating supplied from a central oil fired boiler. There is also a
Scheme Manager call system and fire alarm system throughout the scheme. The first floor flats also have stairlift access from ground floor level to assist tenants who may have mobility problems.
The Resident Scheme Manager who lives at the scheme works in conjunction with the Relief
Scheme Manager. They are on duty at certain times during the day and 'on call' during the night. When
Scheme Manager staff are not on duty, support for tenants is provided through the Community Alarm scheme that can initiate appropriate action to assist.
In Tarland itself there is a medical practice, Post Office, hotels, and a range of shops. Public transport is also available with links to Aboyne and Aberdeen city that is located 31 miles away.
