The sheltered housing scheme at 5 Thomson Street, Aberdeen was built in 1981. There are a total of 18 'studio' flats within the 3-storey block building, with lift access to all floors. In addition, there is a residents' lounge with attached kitchen on the first floor, a laundry equipped with washing machine and tumble dryers and a guest bedroom where tenants' friends or relatives can stay for a small charge.
All properties have central heating provided from a central gas boiler, and a door entry system at the main entrance door restricts access to the building to authorised persons only. There is a
Scheme Manager call system and fire alarm system throughout the building.
We provide a Housing Support service 7 days each week at
this scheme. We employ a Manager and a Relief
Manager to do so, and they are normally on duty each day
from 8.00 am - 4.00 pm, with a one hour flexible break for
lunch between 12.00 - 2.00 pm. When staff are
not on duty, support for tenants is provided by
RCC/Community Alarm, whose staff can initiate appropriate
action to assist.
Located in the popular Rosemount area of Aberdeen, the scheme at Thomson Street is close to a variety of shops and other services.
A regular public transport service is available close by, with links to Aberdeen city centre and other areas.
