Housing Day reminds us of the importance of good neighbours and communities.

It is the tenth year of Scottish Housing Day, and to celebrate this we really want to draw attention to the idea of being a good neighbour.

Good communities arise when those who live in the area work together to look after their area and try their best to be a good neighbour to those who live near them. A friendly smile, a helping hand, or just being considerate for those around you makes a world of difference. When neighbours look out for each other, it builds trust, reduces loneliness, and strengthens the whole community.

At Castlehill, we believe that housing is more than just bricks and mortar – it’s about people, connections, and creating places where everyone feels safe, welcome, and respected.

(Website section) Sadly, anti-social behaviour does occur at times, and  it is important that we all take responsibility for how we act. Being mindful of noise, respecting shared spaces, and treating each other with kindness and respect are simple steps that help prevent conflict and ensure everyone can enjoy their home. We encourage people to think about the impact of their actions and by choosing to build each other up, rather than create tension.

Scottish Housing Day reminds us that by being good neighbours, we make our neighbourhoods safer, friendlier, and more supportive places – not just for ourselves, but for everyone.
